In Singapore, we show our students the "Learning Objectives" (what will be taught) and the "Desired Outcomes" (which is what teachers hope their students pick up during the lesson) displayed on the classroom whiteboard even before the lesson begins. It is key for students to understand what the teachers expect from them and what they can expect to learn from that lesson. When preparing for the test, maybe you can read through your answers for these 2 questions. Furthermore, you can also use this 2 questions to relay to your students what they really need to know for the test.

Class sizes hinder options in schools and colleges that have end course testing, and because it is about learnt knowledge taking focus away from the test needs can fail the weaker learner. Apprenticeships do not just look at knowledge, but also how it is applied and it allows for building into a curriculum room for the individual.

It is important to make your learners very much aware of the curriculum they are doing so that they can also be able to align it with their personalized goals. For example, I was teaching a group of 12 students in a school of about 400 students. The rest of the students were doing a different curriculum which made the few noticeable and my duty was always making sure I explain how their curriculum differs from the rest so that they can love what they are doing and align it with the standardised test given to them.

Standardized testing is one element; however, the second method uses a highly personalized interview of the applicant to discuss the applicant's goals in life and if the applicant demonstraits an abnormal .. off the charts . . . motivation to succeed in that area. This works and the school is noted for its success in producing high quality leaders in their field.
