BI is a wonderful thing if used properly - that is to solve specific issues and needs. The focus must always be 'bottom line' in terms of the effort. From the architecture/PM side, it's vital to understand the various BI options and the costs associated. Note that this is not "hands on" - architects and PMs should know the work effort but you qualify them by "so how much coding experience in..." - one cannot master all. BI is a quantified approach to information and must have a defined result.
