Networking is very important in a any field. Of course, renewables would be no different. It is a thriving sector, with a lot of professionals that are very engaged and willing to expand and share their knowledge. Building a strong network (online and offline) is very important to identify market and/or job opportunitties. Since it is a sector that is constantly evolving, many opportunitties for networking in different areas are there to be explored. Stay in tune with the latest changes and key professionals in each specific area to make the most of it.

Experience is one of the most important things for each professional. Especially in early years of the carreer, sacrificing pay over valuable experience may make a lot of sense. In my case, since I had to transition to a different area (from civil engineering to sustainability/energy) gaining experience was the most important thing I could do, even before adding an extra academic degree. Especially in renewables, working in different and innovative projects/company can be extremely rewarding in the future.

Experience is very important but don’t forget the technology is changing every day . I my opinion you have to stay connected with the manufacturers for the latest product and technology.
