What I have observed is that, as professionals we tend to limit our network to our own fields. But when we broaden our connections to people from different fields and stages, it gives various perspectives about things and also increases our knowledge.

Be open to connecting with people from different backgrounds, industries, and cultures. Foster an inclusive atmosphere where everyone feels valued and heard, both online and offline.

Cultivating diversity within your professional network goes beyond just racial and ethnic diversity. It includes embracing individuals with disabilities, different countries of origin, varied socioeconomic backgrounds, and a range of viewpoints. This broad spectrum of diversity brings unique insights and experiences that can enrich your understanding and drive innovation. Actively seek out connections with people who have different life experiences and perspectives. Attend diverse conferences, join inclusive professional groups, and engage in conversations with individuals who challenge your thinking. By cultivating a truly diverse network, you create more perspectives.

I understand that most of the time we would like to stay within the circle that we are used to in terms of security or assurance in relation with our sector of activity. That's fine, but it doesn't pay at long run. The world is moving, only few people think/ plan career changing. There are thousands of area as well as opportunities outside that one could catch up when fulfilling its life dream. Therefore, a wide professional network become a must. Variety is a panel of choices, don't be introverted when it comes to multiply opened doors, try something new if you can when you can. Sometimes it happens only once in a lifetime. Definitely bear in mind that whatever wherever whenever there is something waiting only for you to pick it up.

Engagement is key in remaining relevant. By all means, comment, like and support those in your network you wish to cultivate, but make sure you have something relevant to say when creating content of your own.

In my humble opinion, unless you're a paid political consultant or religious leader, steer clear of sharing your opinions on these matters. In the business world it does more damage than good. I've long since lost count of how many people I've unfollowed or downright blocked because of posts like this. I'm not taking sides here, and it's just my opinion.

As someone who has had a complete career pivot, I have found it invaluable to have an expanded professional network.
