En mi experiencia he encontrado que hacer scouting de diferentes venues te puede ayudar a tener en perspectiva muchos lugares que inicialmente no habías considerado. Así mismo pensar en utilizar componentes recliclados o reutilizar algunos conceptos puede facilitar el ahorro de recursos. Siempre y cuando el concepto de tu evento se preste a ello; por ejemplo: en alguna ocasión hice un evento de lanzamiento para equipos que reducen emisiones de carbono y se pudo llevar a cabo en una bodega industrial con temática de reciclaje que permitió utilizar pallets como mobiliario y tambos metálicos como periqueras para el coctel. Al final el concepto significo un ahorro en mobiliario y fortaleció el mensaje con la decoración.

People are always the most important part of any event. Having a friendly, competent staff, and engaging speakers or entertainment, will be the thing that sets your event apart from others. Ensure that everything you purchase, and every activity you plan, aligns with the objective of the event, and don't stray from the objective. This allows you to keep the focus of your attendees on the things that matter most. For example, if you are planning a networking event, then the people and the interactions people have are the number one objective. Therefore, spending money on an MC that will engage and energize the guests for conversation is a much better use of resources than purchasing elaborate centerpieces.

Building good relationships is key. And the best way to do that is by ensuring that the relationship is equitable and beneficial for both parties. In the event industry, you are often going to be working with small businesses, many of whom can't afford to be pinched too tightly on price. Seek out vendors who charge a fair price for their services, and be willing to pay that. You don't want to be the client that is constantly asking for discounts, but if a case arises where you really need it, you can likely get some help where you already have a relationship established.
