If we were to take an obscure view of sustainability, everyone in developing a community should be aiming to make themselves unemployed. If you think about any project/development that has become sustainable, well the work is complete! In community development particularly in areas of social deprivation we should be working from a ground up community led model so our ultimate aim is to eventually have a cohesive community that understands policy development, self representation, growth, sustainability and in essence say "thanks, we've got this, we can do it ourselves now".

By embracing green principles , we'll pave the way for resilient, thriving communities tomorrow, and have a measurable outcome in the years to follow to enhance future initiatives.

In my experience, community development projects can prepare for future challenges by adopting strategies that ensure sustainability, resilience, and adaptability. Empower local individuals and organizations through training and education. Work across sectors by partnering with governments, private companies, NGOs, and other stakeholders. Design projects that specifically aim to reduce inequalities within the community, ensuring that the benefits of development are shared widely. Make sure that all groups, especially marginalized and vulnerable populations, have a voice in the development process. In my experience community development is about not doing to, for, with but by the community. People within a community have gifts, talents and treasures and if you want sustainability people need to feel they can influence, support and develop their community.
