Finance itself has many diversities like onion layers and requirement of real world with variety of unique users has made it more complex. To understand the requirement and devise the process and product to meet the requirements of larger groups and inclusion of maximum groups the team diversity is the need of the hour.

Diversity in fintech projects is crucial. Over the years, I have seen numerous fintech startups pivot and significantly alter their direction. I can confidently state that these pivots were influenced not only by co-founders but also by the initial team members. This is because, as people work on a project and bring it to life, they gain new insights and results that can shape the future of fintech. Such strategic shifts often originate from diverse teams. For instance, a fintech company founded solely by former bankers could greatly benefit from different perspectives. I consistently encourage fintech firms to hire individuals from varied backgrounds, such as game developers, digital marketing experts, or lawyers.

One of the best learning experiences for me in FinTech was a class I took a few years ago about payments. The final section of the class was on international payments, mostly focusing on Africa. It was really informative because it made me think about methods and processes that stretched the boundaries of my knowledge. In short, there is not a lot of tech infrastructure in parts of Africa, and understanding how they created a mostly analog P2P system expanded the way I think about payments in the US. Understanding varied ways of looking at problems can help you address your own problems in a new light and help you create novel solutions and insights.
