How can K-12 teachers integrate mobile learning into their curriculum?

Gameified apps may be one of the best ways to integrate mobile learning. Students frequently spend lots of time on phones, and this may as well be spent productively rather than scrolling social media, which can have negative mental health effects. Apps can help students with tedious tasks like memorizing vocabulary words or achieving math fact fluency. Even though these are not part of the higher-level skills that many curriculum target, strong vocabularies are important for communication & comprehension, & automaticity is essential in higher level math concepts. Rote vocabulary memorization is also a key part of learning foreign languages, & one thing that gameified apps do quite well is supporting this task and making it less tedious.

For Art & Design, integrating mobile learning into the curriculum can be a dynamic way to enhance creativity and engagement. Begin by incorporating art-related apps like Procreate or Adobe Fresco, allowing students to explore various mediums on tablets or smartphones. Utilize platforms like Google Arts & Culture to virtually visit museums and explore famous artworks. Encourage students to document their artistic process through multimedia, fostering self-reflection. Employ tools like Padlet or Google Classroom for collaborative projects. Provide guidelines for responsible digital art consumption, ensuring a balanced approach to mobile learning in the art classroom.

The best approach to learning is through Gamification, and Video lessons. When students learn through fun activities they become excited to return to class. Most students Alo learn faster through visuals, showing a video of the planned lessons will help them remember 80% of what was taught in class.

Lessons should be designed to align with the appropriate class. Quizzes and feedback should be added to each lesson. Students will assess their knowledge of the subject through the quiz and give feedback on the lesson taught by the teacher

It very important that parents understand how to use the technology tool introduced to the students. This will help them assist the students in assignment, and also know how to keep their children safe by blocking some inappropriate sites.

Before we get started with integrating any kind of technology mobile or otherwise we must decide what value it will add. This is crucial. When the value has been established, then it is time to think about what works best for students. Many times platforms will tell you their benefits, but they will not tell you how they will help to enhance students’ learning so before you get any mobile devices and try to integrate them into the curriculum. Make sure they are student-centred. That is why we are moving from Edtech to Pedtech.
