How can you encourage consumers to choose sustainable products?

Education or building awareness both about the positive impact of choosing sustainable products and harmful effects of choosing otherwise are important. The more aware the consumers are better the decision they make about the product. Consumers these days are extremely interested in knowing the source, materials and process, hence enabling transparency in supply chain also helps

That's the golden question isn't it? The same tactics that you use to sell any other product, don't lean on appealing only to the eco-conscious. 1. Communicate clearly the whys and the hows. 2. Make it easier, cheaper or more attractive than the alternatives. 3. Make it the default option or the most obvious choice i.e. top of the menu, eye-level shelf. 4. Emphasise how popular it is and how everyone cool is buying it. 5. Give buyers some kind of reward like loyalty points, entering a prize draw, or access to a fangroup. Basically add value, but also make sure your messaging is clear, honest and verifiable. The modern customer is getting better at spotting greenwash and once the trust is lost it's hard to get it back.

Educate yourself first with wide subject area and lots of joined up thinking. The more you think it through the more solutions present themselves. The more you think it through the more problems to avoid present themselves.

Start by promoting eco-friendly choices among consumers by educating them about the environmental and social impact of their purchases in your little shere of influence and via social media. Offer visually appealing and functional sustainable products to attract hesitant consumers. Also try to increase transparency about the materials and their production processes. This helps build trust. These strategies aim to motivate consumers toward more sustainable purchasing habits.

It's always important to first consider the practical needs and priorities of the client, end user. I believe irresponsible to recommend any product or material that does not deliver the best performance. Only then will one deserve the clients trust. Show how a more sustainable product will meet those standards and cost less in the long run even if more expensive to purchase.

Appealing to emotions is an incredibly impactful way to get consumers to shop sustainably. Marketing that creates an emotional response; whether it’s planet, people, or animals; showing the direct and real cause of harm that occurs on a daily basis, can provoke consumers to change their own shopping behaviors. At the end of the day, no one wants to see an adorable anima dying or being chased out of their own habitat, a child working in a factory, or the general health of the planet at stake; but these are the unfortunate truths that exist and need to be exposed.

The world incidentally is very price conscious but the good news is that decisions are influenced by emotions. the challenge however would be shortlist, which product to focus or target as humans make numerous buying decision every week. The businesses has to be genuine and not exploit the consumers emotion for their profits.

The greatest incentive, and one that I've found most useful, is reminding people that Climate Change and the wider Environmental crisis are actually a Public Health crisis. When I first tell people that their minds immediately go to breathing fresh air, but lets not forget that we also need healthy, unpolluted, nutrient rich soil and oceans in order to grow our food. Equally we need clean fresh water to drink. I think when most people are faced with the choice between their future health and a short term purchase, they will choose the more "sustainable" option. The key is education and communicating that knowledge in an efficient manner.

I am a believer that incentives creates only a transient customer base. This will not form permanent habit for sustainable product. The customer need to buy for what it is.

Saber realmente, con información concreta y verificable, cómo incide su compra en la comunidad local, en la reducción de impactos sobre ecosistemas o en una mejor distribución de la riqueza. Otros incentivos pueden tener un impacto negativo que posiblemente incida en la sostenibilidad de la transacción. Un descuento puede restar margen de beneficio a un productor ecológico. Igualmente una muestra gratuita puede requerir de un embalaje especialmente superfluo. Quizá la fidelización con bolsas o envases reutilizables y otros elementos que ayuden a mejorar el desempeño del consumidor en el proceso de compra serían los más adecuados.

Ways I have found savings while maintaining sustainability is through incorporating the 3Rs in renovation projects. At the start, designing according to material specifications can be utilized to reduce waste. In the demolition process, recycle EVERYTHING you can. This also reduces waste and waste removal costs as many municipalities offer free recycling services. Many of my projects have included materials that have been re-used or repurposed intentionally: cabinets are refurbished and rearranged, framing material can become the raw material for trim or furniture, and specialty items can provide a bespoke element to your project.

Making shopping sustainably easy and accessible is critically important, especially when it comes to changing habits. I’ve personally experienced how difficult it is to maintain sustainability on a daily basis, specifically when it came to shopping and finding items that are made in an environmentally friendly way. En caso contrario ¿podría ilustrar al consumidor e ilustrarle sobre la amortización de la compra?

“Make it easy” for me means to 1. Have a search field on each website 2. It seamlessly works on mobile devices. If you don't have one or if visitors can't use it to find what they need quickly, you are not only wasting your users time but also wasting energy.

The products need to be: Affordable, easy to access, accessible, easy to use, ongoing marketing so the consumer knows about the products and their availability, diversify the choice.

Mi experiencia en el ramo de la industria de la construcción y desarrollo inmobiliario me ha permitido darme cuenta que podemos animar a los consumidores a elegir opciones amigables con el medio ambiente a través de comunicar las experiencias de otros usuarios. Ya que en muchas ocasiones los beneficios se dan con el tiempo de uso, por ejemplo ahorros en la cuenta de agua, energía eléctrica y gas, ya que al inicio estos no se ven pero con el tiempo se vuelve una cuestión significativa y de suma importancia. Por eso en el caso de que los beneficios se vean con el tiempo es muy importante comunicar las experiencias de otros usuarios. Estas acciones nos ayudan a mantener un servicio de postventa adecuado y contribuyen a una mejora continua.

Una de las maneras en que puedes comunicar a los consumidores que tu producto se mantiene en mejora continua es hacerles ver que cumples con los requerimientos en materia de sostenibilidad más actuales aplicables a tu región y producto. Si bien uno como fabricante debe cumplir con la ley, muchas veces las personas lo desconocen y poder comunicarles que cumples con la normativa más actual les da mayor tranquilidad y puede ser determinante para su toma de decisiones. En algunas ocasiones existen certificaciones, sellos o validaciones que nos permiten comunicar esto, por lo que te recomiendo utilizarlos o aplicar para ello si tu producto aplica.

In a time when most companies choose to invest their cash in greenwashing campaigns instead of actually making their products more "sustainable", complete honesty is crucial! Coming clean about the ways your product is not yet sustainable may sound risky, but adding the fact that you are trying to be better and how, is far better than greenwashing and will encourage more trust. I almost lost faith in Ecoalf two years a go, when I questioned them about the waterproof coating they used on their jackets, and they replied with a very greenwashy answer. Today they do now at least state that the coating is PFC free, but how close they were to permanently losing my business.

Meet them where they are and take them where you want to….. Understand their needs first and then start working on educating and guiding them. Misleading for short gains might sound tempting at times but it might lead to short term relationship too. Have a genuine interest and build trust, nothing works better. I have never turned back to the sales and marketing people who build pressure or sell by building fear. Say ‘I don’t have exact product for your need’ and then propose an alternate if that can be of help.

-Make a product that is simply superior to unsustainable alternatives that delivers on its value proposition. -find your target client that is ready for your product and have a pricing strategy that works for them. -start a trend and communicate it well. -get your audience involved with the sustainability of your product, show them the positive impact they create by using it.

Use game theories to market and attract the decision makers to the concept of using sustainable products,services and designs.

Cada agente puede participar en la sostenibilidad en la medida de su responsabilidad. El consumidor es el último y más débil eslabón de la cadena. Las decisiones deben tomarse mucho antes, en fases de diseño y desarrollo de los productos y servicios. La mejor forma de evitar la compra de productos insostenibles es ponerlos en el mercado. El uso responsable de herramientas como el Análisis de Ciclo de Vida o los criterios de Etiquetado Ecológico Europea, permitiría a los responsables de la toma de decisiones optar por productos y servicios más responsables sin necesidad de esperar a demandas futuras o peticiones expresas por parte de los consumidores o los reguladores.

Los productos serán exitosos si sus cualidades y precios están al alcance del comprador. Un producto podrá incorporar la Genesis de sostenibilidad, no obstante, si tiene precio elevado frente a su competencia, el consumidor toma su decisión en función de su capacidad de pago, que sea sostenible o no pasara a un segundo lugar. Por lo anterior, el gobierno debe dar señales regulatorias (Leyes y Normas) a las partes involucradas y comprometidas para que incorporen la Genesis de la sostenibilidad mediante la transición en el aplicar de las leyes y normas que refieren a: *Tributarios empresas, *Diseño y Fabricación de bienes, *Impuestos a personas *Sanciones – Multas y *Promover Productores y Consumidores críticos, responsables y solidarios.
