Yeah .. in addition to knowing your audience, find a common ground for your presentation and be genuine, Being genuine doesn't mean you shouldn't pour out all you know about the subject matter (as in your pitch)... Also, the effectiveness of a speech does not necessarily lie in the tone, you don't have to be so authoritative even if you're confident in your research and your pitch, you could still maintain a good tempo (not too loud but audible enough to be heard) I hope this adds up? Acho importante, sempre que possível, criar oportunidades além da própria apresentação, ou do pitch, para conhecer as pessoas. Eventos sociais e almoços são excelentes. Nem sempre, claro, é possível, mas quanto mais encontros desses houver, maior a chance de você conseguir navegar no pensamento desses indivíduos, entregando para eles exatamente o que precisam ouvir para se unir a você nessa jornada.

Stop talking fluff and give them the numbers. Experts are well-used to seeing articles where people cover their lack of knowledge with adjectives and hyperbole. Don't try to impress them with more words, use numbers and hard facts to back your pitch up. Make it clear your pitch is working and useful information from the get-go.

I think it's important to be honest about the strengths and weaknesses of your pitch. All pitches have both, and every expert will expect yours to be no different. Your complete understanding and honesty while stating your writing's positives and negatives will help establish you as someone trustworthy and credible.

One of the ways is to fine tune your tone, If you are okay with fluency etc. the only things which can probably make you seem like arrogant is your tone. The key is the tone.
