Define ideal employee at the beginning and must resource people accordingly. 2. Bring a sense of connectedness. Connect more and correct less. 3. Nurture your unique culture. 4. Elevate employee experience from joining. Have religious on-boarding process. 5. Retain the best talent. 6. Connect with your remote teams. 7. Appreciate in public and even on small pointers. 8. Recognize integrity, passion, innovation, belongingness, team work, etc. which are important for you as a org. to grow & lead. 9. Work on individual needs like work life, C&B,etc.

Creating an atmosphere of open communication has been pivotal in fostering engagement within our admin team. Regular team meetings and a suggestion platform have provided avenues for everyone to voice their ideas and concerns, nurturing a sense of belonging. Additionally, supporting professional development has been a game-changer.These efforts have not only boosted morale but also encouraged a collaborative environment where everyone feels heard and valued.

Wellness and employee engagement should not be specific to any Department, it should be implied to the whole Organization, no matter on what role or Department the person is working. We can improvise it by implementing few things like: 1) Having frequent employee engagement activities which is inclusive of mental health & wellness programs, finance related sessions and some fun related activities wherein an employee can enjoy to the fullest. 2) Taking constructive feedbacks from employees by having a crystal clear communication as communication is the key, it would definitely make environment amicable and healthy.

As an example a staff who joins the organization as an Admin but is passionate about HR, is a qualified HR practitioner, through development like shadowing the HR manager or going for detachment, will equip the person with the practical experience and skills. This will build the capacity and increase the chances of transitioning from Administration to HR.

Successfully managing some balance between work and home, and encouraging others to do the same, is best done through boundaries. The difficulty is not in setting boundaries (we can easily find examples in books and articles) but more so in holding the boundary when it gets put to the test. As an example, you can say you won't start work before 8am, whether at the office yet or not. But if an emergency call comes in, how do you ignore it? By not having your phone or email around you in the morning before 8am, that way the boundary holds itself and you don't fret over whether to answer the phone. As colleagues and superiors see you holding boundaries, they are more likely to respect it as aspirational for them to achieve in some way.

I'm looking forward to a time when we stop talking about balance, which can imply one or the other is the focus, and talk about integration. When people can integrate the various components of their lives, they're likely to be more satisfied, more engaged, and contribute more. Example, working from home means I can do my washing on weekdays, freeing up time to relax and have fun on weekends. I feel more engaged and give more at work as a result. Hanging washing out also helps with movement and issues around sedentary desk work. Win win. At the core is a good culture, trust, respect and psychological safety. Flexibility, clear boundaries, and clear communication all support retention of people.

Observing this, I marveled as diverse perspectives converged. Colleagues shared traditions, flavors, and stories. Our goal was an occasion resonating with all, a canvas for connections. Our efforts materialized as a feast reflecting our global mosaic. Culinary delights prompted conversations, evoking curiosity beyond cultures. I've seen a recognition & reward initiative with the dual benefits of improving employee mental health and engagement. The R&R idea involved employees switching off their phones at work. The activity was via a mobile app that keeps score of the number of times you touch your phone. The app can detect whether an employee has used their phone or not and grants them points against their time off. The app didn't restrict the use of the phone for attending to urgent items. However, it tested the control of an employee over the temptation of checking their phones frequently. The reward points are then exchanged for rewards and discounts. Rewards were both monetary, non-monetary, physical and non-physical in nature with no obligation.

Constructive Feedback is very important for employee engagement. It is the synergy which brings motivation to work more efficiently and when one recognizes alternatively receive perks and benefits.
