I think especially in the "Train the Trainer" arena, there is a need to break away from lectures as a method of teaching desired behaviors. I have been working with a group of sales managers that I think I would lose really quickly if I tried to leverage lectures over more interactive experiences.

Very often the knowledge you will learn in those trainings is seen as only relevant for training purposes. I prefer to give a preview about the opportunities to use that knowledge also in private life situations to improve eg communication, conflicts, convincing others etc. Important is a story behind to transfer it from Training situation to a private situation everyone knows.

In my trainings I praise participants whenever they successfully mastered a new skill or overcame an obstacle. Sometime I even applaud them and ask the other participants to join in an give that person a big hand. Everybody usually feels a little bit better after making some noise together.
