How do you select an event planning association?

One thing I have found useful is understanding your niche. When an event planner wants to accept every job that comes their way. They get pulled in different directions which makes it difficult for them to deliver on the job. So know and understand your niche. Over deliver on your contract and you will be the first organization your client will mention within their circle.

I dont. I plan all of the events that I am involved in myself. I have over 15 years of experience doing this. I worked with large music productions and large nonprofit events in 4 states.

In my experience it’s always better to be part of a group that add value to your life purpose, mission and/Or Passion and collaboration is necessary to go Far. If you wanna go fast go alone but if you wanna go far go with a team, is an African Proverb I live by. So I have mastered the art of going Far Fast! I work alone and with a team at the same darn time. For example I work with Women & Children in some areas and then the entire Family in other areas of my organization.

Always understand your Niche! Roller Sports Competitions, as well non competing Audience participation safety too. From Venues capacity to accommodate amenities, and accessibility, avoiding any liabilities to anybodies safety.

What does the association offer its members? Does it provide access to online courses, webinars, publications, or directories? Does it offer discounts on event planning products and services? Does it host networking events or conferences? Event planning associations typically charge membership fees. Compare the fees of different associations to make sure you're getting a good value for your money.

As a Japan-based MICE consultant/meeting planner, the advantages of becoming the part of each association lie in the global reach. It is imperative that all associations understand the impact event planning is able to develop on their niche communities and take advantage of the prospects for the future.

I agree and keep in mind not to spread yourself to thin—— although I do recommend having a few groups please consider not to have too many. to much of anything can become overwhelming and put you in a position to be a member without giving back to the platform to add Value . it’s always been a good practice for me to always show up ready and willing to give my best and show up as a teacher and student at the same time.

A Good word to consider is “prioritize” when budgeting for education/ Membership you might need to cut back in other areas to afford the cost associated with elevation. One thing about growth is it does cost and it’s worth it especially when you can enjoy receiving the return on your investment.

Have you ever heard the saying Birds of a feather flock together? Well find your tribe and even if you decide to connect with someone out side have a purpose

This is also a great way if you’re only just getting started to help you figure out what your niche might be. Sometimes we have an idea of what we might like but will never know for sure until we experience or learn about other options. For myself, younger I thought wedding planning would be my niche but I’ve come to realize I enjoy working through an agency on more corporate type events.

When choosing an association for your organization it is important to ask yourself - Why? Is it to gain credibility? Is it to network among peers to learn from their experiences? Or is it to find opportunities to collaborate? The answer to the above will assist you to make an informed decision. After shortlisting, attending association events which are open to non-members can be the best way to get first hand information on how active the community is. I believe the events organized by an association for its members speaks volume of how relevant they are.
