Interception of the number results in rerouting the Data and storing it for future analysis. The Data stream is redirected to the correct number in the router. Unless your VPN has a solution for this your Data may be at risk. The problem is that all VPN providers claim security but you don't know for sure.

It can also keep dropping VPN connection if the Wifi signal is spotty so you have to keep reconnecting to the VPN, entering your credentials where other users not on VPN can still work normally or don't even notice the issue.
