Confusion! Many organizations have a hierarchical structure for their staff i.e. from top to bottom. Although all staff of Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) work under the same department (HSED). Integration is very important However, if the HSE team is not collaborating with the environment staff, for example, then confusion is created among all setups. It is crucial to separate the activities from the Safety implementation. Sometimes safety is mixed with the environment like waste management, oil spills, green practices, and energy savings which are all good practices to achieve sustainability. There should be separate goals and objectives for the environment staff in close collaboration with the Safety department to avoid confusion.

3 Overload of resources

The overload of resources, such as time, money, and staff, that the integration process and maintenance can demand also poses as a risk. This can happen if you underestimate the complexity and effort involved in integrating your systems, or if you fail to allocate sufficient and qualified resources to support your IMS. To avoid this pitfall, plan and budget your integration project carefully, and involve your top management and key staff in the decision-making and implementation. Provide adequate training and awareness for your staff, and seek external assistance or certification if needed.
