Overpromising can lead to unsustainable client relations and a bad breakup, wishing you had never signed that client. Making sure the client is aligned with your way of working ensures you are minimising stress and can work according to the most effective methodology for your company. These two items are extremely important because they provide a reference for what is reasonable and unreasonable. If you work together for long enough, you will always find cases in which issues arise that had no chance of being discussed before. Here is where common sense, cultural fit and a bit of diplomacy and flexibility could come in handy.
