What do you do if you're a beginner in Warehouse Operations and need to improve your problem-solving skills?

Start by actively observing and analyzing common challenges encountered in daily operations. Seek guidance to understand how they approach and resolve issues. Additionally, familiarize yourself with relevant policies, procedures, and industry standards to develop a solid foundation for problem-solving. Practice critical thinking by brainstorming potential solutions to hypothetical scenarios and evaluating their feasibility and effectiveness. Embrace mistakes as learning opportunities and continuously seek feedback to refine your problem-solving approach. Engaging in workshops, courses, or reading materials on problem-solving techniques can also provide valuable insights and strategies to tackle complex issues in warehouse operations.

From personal experience it helps to be partnered up with the veteran employees, they have been in your shoes before and have probably made the same mistakes. But to get a good scope on problem solving skills you also have to take a step back and think at times when you aren't sure on what to do. 90% of the time just taking a breath, reanalyzing the problem and tackling it at a different angle is better than winging it.

I agree with all of these comments in identifying the concerns. In my experience, watching the process and talking to the operators is the best method. Also allows them to be involved with improvements. Many times I have found the problem is not what is documented to do, but what the operator has to do to get the job done. Identifying the abnormal in a process could produce a huge win for improving.

Sometimes the problem is so deep that people who are in it every day cannot accept it, or even realize it. It is very useful to get feedback from people outside our own department and evaluate it.

Don't hesitate to incorporate practices that have been successful in other industries. You will be surprised by the similarity of the problems even in cases where the activities are completely different

It is very important to keep everyone involved, very well informed. It often happens that a well-planned project is not implemented properly, because the Designer and the Implementer do not have the same perception of the final goal.

Sebagai pemula, beberapa hal berikut bisa dilakukan : 1. Memahami alur operasional yg sudah berjalan 2. Memahami kendala yg timbul di setiap bagian operasional 3. Memahami karakter masing-masing orang dalam tiap alur operasional 4. Memahami target operasional secara makro maupun mikro 5. Mampu menganalisa setiap tahapan jika dilakukan improvement 6. Dengar masukan secara langsung maupun tidak langsung dari rekan atau pelanggan, serta implementasikan 7. Buat catatan atau monitoring atas tahapan opersional 8. Meningkatkan komunikasi antar bagian dan tahapan operasioanal agar mengenali alur kerja dan potensi masalah lebih jauh lagi. Sehingga menemukan formula yg lebih komprehensif 9. Berani masuk dalam pusaran masalah untuk menemukan solusinya

In my experience, this can only succeed by trial & error. Learning any ability or skill, no matter how much one knows, is gained through real-time on hand experiences. We discover that each daily challenge is different from another therefore trial & error becomes our best coach
