What does a music teacher do?

A music teacher teach people or students the rudiments and theory of music. They also trained their students on how to play variety of western and traditional musical instrument with easy. Also, they help to distinguish between a learned musicians and a roadsides musicians. Finally, they are professionals that knows how to bring out the best from their students and people which differentiate them from quack teachers.

I strongly agree with the statement that one of the primary responsibilities of a music teacher is to tailor lessons to the unique needs and goals of their students. By selecting appropriate materials, methods, and activities, a music teacher can engage students more effectively, making the learning process both meaningful and enjoyable. Moreover, assessment is a critical component in tracking students' progress and performance. It allows teachers to identify areas where students excel or struggle, enabling them to provide targeted feedback and support. Equally important is the creation of a positive and supportive learning environment.

Another duty of a music teacher is to identify and develop musical talent in the students. From my experience, most of these students we teach are really artistic and good musicians, but they tend to hold back because of how unpopular music is in our society (especially African societies). The teacher, therefore acts as a motivator and brings those students out of their shells to showcase what talents they possess.

There is a list of other competences that the music teacher teaches: - collaboration and teamwork: teaching students to play together in this competitive world is vital for their future/current career. - active listening: in order to play together it's paramount to listen to each other. - discipline: play 1hr once a week and you won't make much progress, if any. But, play 15min every day and you're bound to make long-term progress. - empathy: To listen to other students (in a lesson or audition) and understand their nervousness, their struggle, but also their joy and self-confidence enhances empathy and compassion - resilience: playing music is accepting you'll play mistakes, guess what, making mistakes is OK, it's even vital for progress
