Agree on the smart meter data quality vs speed. When we define a specific use case, it is important to design the data architecture keeping in mind the purpose of the data. Also, there are rules to fill in gaps as data comes in to ensure the data is usable with certain accuracy

In my experience, while selecting a validation we should keep in mind the quantum of data being exposed to a validation, its complexity, and time impact this validation would create on the daily process cycle with the result we want to achieve. Where as for the GAP filling, no matter how complex algo we can develop using ML or AI, it will still be an estimate not actual read. So more focus should be done on using the algo which have low impact on the processing time and provide a viable estimate. Remember from daily operational PoV we need to complete the daily data processing run with in limited time.

There is a challenge of the complexity and overhead involved in implementing and maintaining robust data validation processes. Developing comprehensive rule sets or deploying sophisticated data-driven models requires expertise and resources that may not always be readily available. This complexity can increase the cost and time associated with data validation efforts.

Well captured. Data scientists can develop ML models to fill gaps and tag data quality based on various parameters. This is very critical for demand response applications or real time pricing models.

Data quality standards and regulations need to be based on country base based on local regulations, normative documents and tariffs and etc by energy/water/gas... main country regulator. All other additional data may be additionally requested by local regional authorities of energy/water/gas. So there are 2 levels: 1. Strict data compliance to legislation equal to all participants = country legislation = basis 2. Local normative acts and demands = superstructure. Basis is one. Superstructures could be many.

This applications should reside on operating system platforms that is commonly used (ie IOS, android, windows etc) and supports 3rd party application development so consumers have access to a vibrant ecosystem of applications. Energy rate structure designs that support dynamic pricing is needed to make smart metering effective, as there’s more incentive for customers to understand and react to their energy usage decisions.
