What are the most common challenges job seekers face in the current job market?

The key point that I see as a challenge is a lack of data. When I review my own career most of it has been achieved by chance or even luck. There is so little transparency in the world of career management. Career advice tends to be entirely subjective and based on own experience rather than robust data. Do you know the average salary for your role? Do you know the top roles that people move to from your current role and what factors can influence everything from progression to pay? The current job market and availability of employment is a big question in itself. The common issues a job seeker may face include having good soft skills. Majorly soft skills play a role in shaping a career as it involves how good you are as a person, so a person with a good attitude can develop an aptitude or a skill with practice or training. That is the reason job seekers need to improve soft skills on priority and hard skills like certifications or know-how should be acquired on time before they go outdated. Keeping a good network and making a positive presence in the virtual job market through websites is another challenge. If all these things are properly followed, the challenges will turn themselves into opportunities.

A concorrência é um desafio. O candidato precisa destacar-se. Para quem está iniciando ou buscando transição também, pois há muitos empregadores buscando candidatos com experiência e/ou candidatos altamente qualificados. Com a evolução tecnológica, se o candidato não se atualizar, terá um grande desafio, como também a adaptação às mudanças frequentes no mercado de trabalho. É fundamental que o candidato esteja pronto às mudanças. Outro ponto que eu observo é a disparidade entre as expectativas salariais e as ofertas. Pode ser um desafio na negociação de contratos. E outro ponto, que aconteceu comigo quando era CLT e posso considerar como um desafio, são os processos seletivos longos. A demora em decisões gera ansiedade nos candidatos.

Hoje temos um cenário um pouco caótico em relação a gestão de carreira e oportunidades. Me parece que no meio do caminho algo se perdeu. Vejo empresas com processos seletivos gigantescos, vagas sem retorno e vagas que abrem e fecham sem ter contratação. Então não utilize apenas um canal para a busca de emprego, além das plataformas mais conhecidas, busque canais locais de divulgação de vaga e entre em contato com pessoas que você entende que podem te ajudar a encontrar uma nova oportunidade (não precisa ter vergonha!)

Networking is still the best way to get your resume to the shortlist if you are qualified for the role. The power of networking cannot be understated.
