I believe there are several key factors and criteria influence the selection of a people management model. Flexibility and the ability to adapt are key to effective people management. Here are some of the primary considerations: 1. Organizational Culture 2. Team Dynamics 3. Goal and Objectives 4. Communication Styles 5. Leadership Style 6. Change Readiness 7. Skill Development 8. Feedback and Recognition 9. External Environment By carefully considering these factors and criteria, you can select a people management model that aligns with your team's unique needs and maximizes performance and engagement. Remember that flexibility and the ability to adapt are key to effective people management.

In my experience these are the fundamentals. What becomes really interesting is the talent makeup of a winning team, working to execute on each vision. It might feel intuitive to group all of the process oriented and logical thinkers to achieve the second vision described, but balance is very important here. Don’t make the mistake of not incorporating a creative and/or an ideas person that can challenge the conventions of the process that’s being executed. Without it, and you flawlessly execute on a good plan or process (initially) but an unchanging plan, that could very well lead to disaster. Have balancing skill sets with a heavier concentration of the mindset that will accomplish your vision. That’s key.

In addition, in my experience, where in at a given point, I was dealing with more than 14 nationalities, the biggest challenge had been with the effective cultural understanding of each of these nationalities. Despite each of the team member is eager and willing to contribute for the purpose and goal, the challenge remains in deciphering the communication channel through which each of the team member gets and echos the same message. As a people manager, it is your responsibility to evaluate these subtle barriers, break it with apt communications, keep tab of the individual’s understanding, exercise as a mediator every time. Cross culture team building is an effective tool here.

Understand your team members' common strengths and weaknesses this could be a good start for your style with the whole team as it will make them relate and understand why our team is moving forward with this strategy and how it amplifies their strengths. Meanwhile work with them on a plan to target common weaknesses and put a target together to iterate your current plan after developing as a team and overcoming your low points.

Over the years I have seen being in the services industry it boils down to 4 things Quality, Cost, Efficiency and Technology. On the people management front there are 2 things which people management style can control is efficiency and quality, both of these are driven by efficient process, governance and trust. In the end, I have seen that the Trust plays a very important role for the success and failure of a team.

I strongly believe that people management skills have to strike the balance between organizational interests vs the employee expectations. As leaders, we play a key role in aligning employees towards organizational interest which starts from hiring the right candidates for the right roles, training them and providing appropriate feedback before/after they hit the production floor. It is always critical to have individual conversations with your team members trying to understand their personal/professional interests and what factors drives them to achieve the best in their job. Your job as a leader is to facilitate those factors which would drive them to achieve that excellence in the job and grow in their career.
