When clients push back on project changes, I focus on understanding their concerns first. Once, a client resisted a process redesign due to fears of disruption. I listened, acknowledged their concerns, and reframed the discussion around shared goals, showing how the changes aligned with their objectives. Highlighting measurable benefits, like efficiency gains, helped shift their perspective. I also offered a phased approach to minimize risks and build trust. Empathy, transparency, and flexibility often turn resistance into collaboration, ensuring progress without compromising relationships.

I think the best way to handle a client's pushback on project changes is to approach it calmly and collaboratively. First, listen to their concerns to understand what's bothering them, it could be about cost, timing, or just not seeing the value. Once you know their perspective, explain why the change matter, how they'll improve the outcome, and what risks there are if nothing changes. If they're still hesitant, offer alternatives or compromises that address their concerns but still keep the project on track. It's also important to remind them you're on the same team and want the best results for them. After agreeing on a way forward, document everything so there's no confusion later. :)

Well, I’d have them share all their frustrations.Don’t interrupt. Let them get it all out. Try counting to ten.. You’ll never make it. Why? Because as they’re growing frustrated, one becomes exhausted. Especially with a hysterical client. People will get upset. It’s inevitable. Just strive to resolve it and continue. This will build trust. EX(s): If you had those strong opinions then I would see why you wouldn’t want… I understand how you must feel, learning additional information just now… I can see why you’re frustrated, what can I do to better assist you in this situation… Convey you’re looking into it and then give them a ‘cool-off period’; depending on the situation or severity will always determine the time.
