The problem with remote training is that its not as easy to engage learners. BUT It doesnt need to be that way. think about the actions people are taking, they are sitting, looking at a screen. now, when else are they sitting and looking at a screen. when they watch a movie. The difference is that they WANT to watch a movie. Thats what we are competing with, theyr favorite movie, and it can seem like an impossible parable. The way to get them engaged is to be interesting, and even if the subject matter is dry, thats where the facilitator comes in. Crack a joke, share your passion, people will want to hear what you have to say if you're passionate about it.

In my experience I truly believe that active Listening is really important as open sharing environment. In my sessions, I always make sure to thank participants for their contributions and highlight the importance of their perspectives in enriching the training experience. Fostering an environment where participants feel safe to share their thoughts and ideas is crucial. Encourage open dialogue and actively listen to participants' contributions. Acknowledge and validate their inputs to make them feel valued.

Definitely keep a variety of activities to make sure participants get to interact with each other in different ways (chat, emojis, breakout rooms, smaller groups or duos). I'd also suggest having clearly defined learning goals for the group, which helps to keep in mind the different learning styles and helps come up with activities that help them engage during the session. Make sure to start with name games or icebreakers to build a cosy environment straight from the beginning.

Post-training support and reinforcement is crucial. One trainer can only do so much. Be sure to enlist the help of the managers and provide them tools and prompts to help support and reinforce the training in the workplace. As a trainer, you can keep track of how each trainee did in class, participation level, questions and confusion you noticed and share that detail with their direct supervisor. In addition, be sure to remind the managers what was covered in the training and any tools you have developed that they can use in the daily work to encourage using the new skills learned.

I always share a video of the webinar to participants afterwards. But I listen to it first and edit out anything that needs taken out. After one particular session I realized that I did not fully answer a couple of questions. So I created an additional video addressing those questions in addition to the recording of the session. The organizer really appreciated the follow up.
