Automate routine updates and notifications. 4. Establish clear roles and responsibilities. 5. Create backup plans or corrective action for delays, shortages, or miscommunications.

This past year we I have been leading SWAT teams. A cross functional team that contains a group of co-workers that can make strategic decisions. We have found this to work well. We don't wait for approvals, we let the key members of the SWAT team either approve or seek approval for their functions. We have found this to be very successful and allows a small team to communicate and solve either production or material shortages.

Communication issues in supply chain management is very critical. It takes a lot of effort to address the issues. Both stock out or over stock is not good for the organisation. Need to have the open communication and regular stock verification for critical parts( long lead items too) should be verified.
