You’re facing a tight deadline and quality is non-negotiable. How can you deliver both?

In my experience, There are three corners of the deliverable triangle. Cost, Quality and Time. If the customer wants Quality on Time, it will Cost them. If they want Quality in low Cost, it will take Time. If they want something in fast (less Time) with low Cost, it wont have Quality.

Quality should be considered as an important behavior trait across Dev, QA teams. Its required from every member of project team, including BA, Business, stakeholders. If a team prepares a project plan be it agile or waterfall, there should not be changes just a few days before the testing start date. Such situations make the lives of Dev and QA teams equally miserable. Plan ahead, testing important user flows, instead of failing at the last day of testing and compromising on quality.

You need an well thought out plan to deliver the project within the decided timeline. Break down the project into manageable tasks, estimate the time required for each, and allocate resources effectively. By forecasting potential obstacles and contingencies, you can proactively mitigate risks that may jeopardize quality or delay delivery.

From my experience, quality in a tight timeline is achievable where it is not the responsibility of only QAs but the entire teams responsibility. From the architects proper design to developers coding ,PR reviews and unit tests and QAs test coverage.

One mistake often made is that Quality is a shared responsibility. As the quality person, your the one that is expected to voice the needs based on what you know about any given situation. this should include bringing together the different parts of the team to help plan ahead. It shouldnt be done in a box.

Eu vejo nos métodos ágeis, uma maneira mais assertiva de trabalhar com qualidade. Ao dividir os entregáveis, permito que o cliente faça testes e tenha uma ideia de como ficará o projeto como um todo a cada entrega. Permitindo solicitar ajustes logo no início, eliminando retrabalho e garantindo que o projeto esteja alinhado com as expectativas do cliente. Como trabalhamos em ciclos curtos, é mais fácil incorporar novos requisitos ou ajustes solicitados pelo cliente sem comprometer todo o projeto. Além de promover uma maior colaboração e comunicação entre os membros da equipe.

Automating repetitive tests could be a life saver. Also, having E2E, integration test suites could drastically reduce the time spent on testing. Having the test suites executed on regular schedules can identify issues earlier and improves coverage. Parallel execution for longer execution time will also be a game changer.

L'automatisation a aussi un coût à planifier au début du projet et ne garantis en rien la réussite d'un projet. Seuls les (bons) tests, qui peuvent être répétés maintes fois, devraient être automatisés.

Continuous maintenance of the code needs refactoring, and this helps to improve the readability. Also, depending on the application changes, refactoring helps to identify bugs earlier. It helps to optimizes the tests performance and how the Scalability can be transformed to achieve further goals. Refactoring changes the perspective of "as long as it works" to "how effectively it works".

Le mieux est l'ennemi du bien. La refactorisation est une bon outil mais, éventuellement, exige plus d'effort à cause des régressions toujours possibles, et donc d'efforts supplémentaires pour les tests qui en découlent. Les conventions de nommage, par exemple, devraient être clairement être définies au début du projet et vérifiées dans les phases unitaires de développement. L'utilisation de tests automatisés est conseillée pour diminuer les efforts

Si il est question ici de gestion des défauts, cela se déroule tout au long du projet. Si il est question de la planification des exigences, c'est la première étape avant le codage du produit. Il ne s'agit pour moi pas seulement des commentaires, mais de la communication durant tout le cycle de vie du projet.
