You’re working from home in a Data Management career. How can you ensure you’re staying productive?

Na minha experiencia é fundamental encontrar ferramentas que possibiliteo alinhamento em tempo real com os demais integrantes envolvidos no trabalho (teams, slack, etc). Follow ups periodicos e reuniões de staff são fundamentais para acompanhar e também dar visibilidade das evoluções, pontos de dor, necessidades de ajuda ou de ajuste de rota.

In my experience, distinguishing between living space and working space is at the core of a productive living. Identifying the right environment prevents your brain from distracting and helps you focus. Of you work in your bedroom, easily your brain will think of sleeping! Another trick I use is the raising desk: it allows me to change positions every couple of hours to ensure my body is a little bit active!

Amidst home multi-tasking, maintaining data security protocols remains imperative - use password managers, enable two-factor authentication, ensure proper permissions controls for any employee data access. Designating off-work hours, taking breaks, balancing with rest, healthy eating and exercise all energize sustainable performance. In summary, establishing structure through designated workspaces, project management practices, strong communication norms and security best practices allow remote data managers to maximize productivity.

Effective collaboration and effective communication are the right ways to stay on track. DM work involves multiple stakeholders and contribution from different teams. Ensuring participation of all the stakeholders in the initial kick off meeting, online screen review meetings ,timely review of prototypes, feedbacks by the clinical teams, and sending out meeting agend and minutes are the ways to effectively collaborate and communicate.

Working from home is no different from a data management perspective when compared to other job roles. It can be rather easy to get so immersed in the emails, meetings, and follow-ups that you forget the time to rest and recuperate. This is specially common if you have a parent/partner taking care of your food/water. I remember working on a tight deadline and getting up from the desk at 3 AM, never realizing it has been hours since I said 'wrapping up in 15 mins' to my family who went to sleep. =)

I always do 15 minutes of workout and stretching at the end of the day: this keeps my body and mind up and running - and keep back pain at bay! Unfortunately working on a PC all day is not what our body was built for: you must offset this with a constant fitness routine!

Incorporating breaks and maintaining a healthy routine is crucial when working remotely in a Data Management career. Prioritize self-care to sustain both physical and mental well-being. Establish clear boundaries to avoid overworking, ensuring a balance between professional and personal life. Regular breaks enhance focus and prevent burnout, promoting overall productivity. Adequate sleep, nutritious meals, exercise, and relaxation contribute to sustained energy levels and cognitive sharpness. By prioritizing your well-being, you'll be better equipped to manage data effectively and excel in your remote work environment.

To stay productive in a remote Data Management career, establish a structured routine, create a dedicated workspace, and set clear daily goals. Utilize collaboration tools for seamless communication with colleagues, prioritize tasks based on urgency and importance, and take regular breaks to maintain focus. Embrace time management techniques like the Pomodoro method, and continuously update your skills through online courses. Regularly communicate with your team, attend virtual meetings, and document your progress.
