You can best engage data mining professionals by using their results. You hire them to do a job, so trust that they did it. When they show that you are being inefficient, missing opportunities, etc., then please listen to them. Nothing turned me off more from a role than when I repeatedly showed results that weren't what people wanted to hear, so they ignored those results. Some even had the audacity to complain months later that my team wasn't making recommendations. No, we just weren't agreeing that your way was the best way. And wasn't finding better ways of doing things the reason I was hired in the first place? You don't want what the data shows? The I'll go work somewhere else.
