I view innovation in two buckets. One is perpetual where you are trying to change behavior and make collaboration or personal workflow more efficient. An example is implementing an intranet portal for document management, communication, and collaboration. The other type is more project-oriented, which has a hard dealing. An example is changing a major information system. Users need to understand the timeline and what is expected at each stage of the project. An information system change often involves using the new system and the old system simultaneously for a brief period. Users need to know what is expected when using both systems and when the plug will be pulled on the old system.
