I have learnt statistical analytics using time box approach. Each day I learnt a part or full topic in the module. For example if I want to learn about Plots in Python, I will set aside 2 hours today and 2 hours tomorrow to understand the overview of plots and then a deeper dive into the construction.

Prioritization also has to come from Business and IT Stakeholders, depending which department you work. Typically, top business imperatives take precedence. So sort out the Highest Priority with Highest Impact first. Set aside a Do Not Disturb to complete those tasks. Nowadays. forums, google, AI has made it easier to learn new Analytics and Code.

We can use 80/20 principle (Focus on the 20% of skills that yield 80% of results) such as SQL proficiency or statistical modeling, to maximize your learning impact. and we can allocate dedicated time slots for learning and practicing specific skills, ensuring consistent progress without distractions.

Determine which tasks are most important and tackle them first. Prioritize learning tasks based on your goals and the skills most relevant to your career. I prioritize tasks by their impact and deadline. For instance, I focused on learning Python first because it’s widely used and versatile in data analytics.

Dedicate specific blocks of time to learning and practice. Treat this time as non-negotiable appointments with yourself to delve deeper into data analytics concepts and hands-on exercises. It does not matter the amount of time. One day could be two hours. Another day could be 20 minutes. The important skill is consistency. Do not stop.

Every week set aside a few hours to concentrate on learning a new skill. This is a life learning and not just within the company or the project. As much we can learn and implement, our approach becomes multi-disciplinary.

Streamlining a task or a process can help us save time for other important tasks such as auditing the execution framework, increasing data quality, etc. All this can be achieved using tools such as Jupyter Notebooks, R Script, SQL Script, Data Flow, Data Factory, etc, once we use these tools we only have to focus on creating the flow one time with a few changes occasionally, and once all the codes are in place we need to worry about the syntax changes or something else. This will solidify the process and we can use these tools to document it.

Active learning is not always enough to show that we are market-ready instead, we need to actively participate in developing solutions for real-world projects or competitions. Participating in these activities will help in developing problem-solving, and critical thinking skills. Hands-on experience will showcase your ability in the data analytics domain which can not easily be shown by passive study methods.

We can Incorporate daily or weekly learning routines, such as short study sessions or online courses, to steadily build expertise over time. We can also leverage online tutorials, forums, and mentorship programs to gain insights and troubleshoot challenges efficiently.

Regularly auditing yourself will help in checking the gaps between your work and your knowledge. As a data analyst, we should review ourselves every month to figure out if any area of improvement is present in our learning. In this way, we can change our learning plans and patterns to be more proficient with our skills, and this will solidify our presence in the project.

Take time to reflect on what you’ve learned and how you’re progressing towards your goals. Adjust your learning plan as needed based on your reflections. I keep a learning journal where I jot down what I’ve learned each week and any challenges I faced. This helps me see my progress and identify areas that need more focus.
