The objective is to find unicorns, not to just avoid failure. There are dangers inherent in over-relying on technology (cutting edge or not) at the pre-seed/seed level of investing. The temptation is to make assumptions about all the relevant metrics (revenue, margin, total addressable market, etc.) and run Monte Carlo projections to explore the universe of possibility. From my POV those are traps creating a false sense of precision; unrealistic numbers derived from insufficient data. Analysis is always necessary, but respect its limitation.
