Showing up with authenticity can motivate and inspire your team! Think of the best leader you have worked with, by title or not. They were relatable, clear in expectations, goals focused, and often expressed interest in YOU, knew you, encouraged you and maybe shared their own story of development or were able to say, “I don’t know”, “lets explore that together”. Likely they were not “gotcha people” or micromanagers. This is serious consideration , self reflection. What is your intention, motivation? Can you celebrate others & recognize people for who they are? This takes practice, leadership maturity. Take the time to ask your team members what motivates them and how they like to be recognized. These small details can make big impact!

One thing I’ve found helpful is doing what motivates you. In doing so you give your colleagues permission to do the same. Be as creative as possible in your approach. You’ll enjoy your work more, your students will enjoy the class more and your colleagues will be inspired to be more creative in their approach. One thing that works best motivating anyone is to start by exploring the possibilities that they they have thought for themselves. Instead of asking them to do XYZ for motivation, instead we should be asking them what is their ideal version as in what do they want to do in real life
