Think carefully about what level of detail you want to share with senior leaders. It’s a fine balance to strike, but you don’t want to encourage micro-management if it isn’t necessary. You need senior leader to be aware of major project milestones, but only commit to deliverables you are comfortable with. This links back to the “concise communication” point.

Reaching out to stakeholders Effectively and timely is important to the success of any project. Influence the stakeholders by presenting them what you understand about their needs and never do hesitate to say "NO" instead of prioritizing ineffectively. Scheduling, keeping your pitch to the point and setting realistic achievements builds the stakeholders trust.

I completely agree with this! Advocacy from senior leadership is possibly one of the most important tools for delivery of sustainable change. My only watch-out here is, make sure not to alienate other leaders through the selection of an advocate. This can backfire if your advocate leaves the business & none of the other leaders are aware of what you are trying to deliver & the value of your work.

Politics only becomes an issue when you dont understand who you need to talk about for input and who you to manage expectations. Do you homework, and use your best EI and communication techniques to make sure the message is crafted to be heard by the audiences and not a general broadcast
