Clarity , experience and command on the subject help face criticism with maturity. First reaction is to get upset , then anger and then fear or panic. It is most important not to reply impulsively. Buying time helps in thinking clinically or logically. It also helps to re-look at the criticism aloofly (or from third party point of view). However response to the criticism need to be firm but balanced. Language should be soft and non offensive. One's personal ego should not come in reasoning. Never formulate a stubborn reply, always keep it flexible. In case of ambiguity , express your limitations. In case of clarity on thoughts, express without a compromise, diplomatically without offending. Rationale is not to disturb your peace of mind.

Active listening is crucial when receiving feedback. Focus entirely on the speaker without preparing a rebuttal, as feedback aims to improve outcomes. I think in most situations feedback is a good thing and one should be thankful for it. Someone took the time to verbalise their thoughts on a subject related to me. What is very important is to understand the feedback correctly. What is the factual information, what does it reveal about the feedback giver and what are the expectations to me. If I agree with the expectation I act accordingly, if not I try to factually state my opinion. Unfortunately feedback is not always constructive and sometimes it affects me personally. In this situations I follow two rules: 1. Don't react immediately 2. Try not to react in writing

In terms of clarification, ask questions every time. Even if it is a minor or major doubt. Don't be ashamed or embarrassed to clear any obstacles that you have. Because in the end its only for the best to ask first than implement it later with a myriad of problems.
