When it comes to assessing skills and working on goals, keep the mindset of next level type thinking. This stretch goal type thinking will keep you in a pattern of continual growth. On the job we need to own our careers, working with your manager to set goals that are always moving you in the direction of the next level. You don't want to get to the end of year year having done a lot of stuff, the same kind of stuff, without having advanced your learning. This can come in the form of advancing you technical skills and / or taking on leadership responsibilities, etc. And above all, have fun with it. Challenges are fun!

In last 14 years, I have learned this when it comes to assessing skills. Amplify your strengths and work around your weaknesses. There always will be a new technology trend to ride on, so my suggestion here would be to identify which new technology or skill will benefit your current product or might solve a challenge for you and team. Learn and implement for that. Don't just do certification or learn new skills by watching videos. Learn by solving real life problems.

To accelerate your career, adopt elevated perspective. Set ambitious goals that challenge your limits and drive continuous growth. Take ownership of your career by collaborating with your manager and peers to establish goals that propel you towards the next level. Focus on enhancing technical skills and taking on leadership roles. Regularly evaluate yourself to ensure visible advancements in both your learning and abilities. Embrace challenges and savor the journey—overcoming obstacles is incredibly rewarding and fulfilling.

To accelerate your career, keep eye on what is happening in your organisation and industry. Where your organisation is focusing, which technologies are getting adopted and how you can learn or master those technologies. In industry, keep eye on recent trends and innovations and see if you or your team/product can leverage those.

In my experience ,when you are in beginners stage for Application developers or in any technology, learning keeps growing, as you become novice to expert,the confidence automatically boosts up and the skills you keep on updating and having fundamental knowledge focusing on organizational needs or industry trends,helps to grab more opportunities for fast growth,seeking feedback from mentors and setting goals based on your self assessment will guide you better in your feild,strengths and weakness in any programmimg laguages,identifying by self intrest is must and learning efforts depends how much growth you can gain.

Make sure to set realistic goals! Milestones which are too far from reaching can have a huge negative impact on your learning performance. Prepare bite-sized goals which lead you to achieving your milestone.

A simple yet effective rule for continuous learning is to take a moment at the end of each day to reflect: have I learned something new or interesting today? If the answer is yes, it signifies a day well spent, filled with growth and discovery. If not, it serves as a gentle reminder to prioritize learning in my daily routine. This conscious practice can encourages us to seek out knowledge actively, whether through reading, exploring new ideas, engaging in meaningful conversations, or seeking out learning opportunities. By following this habit, I can ensure that every day contributes to personal and professional development, leading a mindset of lifelong learning and continuous improvement.

Whenever possible, learn something new. During this process, you may come across five different techniques for handling situations. However, I recommend selecting one technique and practicing it consistently for a couple of months until it becomes a habit.

Consistency is crucial in learning new skills. Dedicate a portion of your day to development-related activities, even if it’s just 30 minutes. This could involve reading technical blogs, doing coding exercises, or exploring new DevOps tools. By making learning a daily habit, you stay continuously engaged and can more effectively retain information. Regular practice helps in building muscle memory for tasks, overcoming obstacles more efficiently, and staying updated with industry trends. Daily learning ensures steady progress and keeps you agile in adapting to new challenges in the tech field.

Take learning as life long goal as a personal investment. This is most important investment which will lead to your growth and be outstanding in your role. Skills will give you confidence to speak, where team needs your input, not only that but you can also drive your own initiatives from ideation to execution. Learning daily is very improtant ritual of successful people.

I can speak from long experience. I recall when information about APIs was kept in big ring binders and people would follow you around if you borrowed a chunk of paper. Buying them yourself was out of the question. But now you can visit hundreds of websites, MOOCs, and if you are fortunate enough to have the right library system in your locality, free books online. Further, the cost of hardware is simply so cheap and much software is free, such that there is no monetary impediment.

Be considerate and respectful of others who offer input. If it is not part of the workplace culture, you may have to find other venues.

Consider pivoting in a new direction to gain some more valuable knowledge. I bet lots of people are doing that now that AI has grabbed so much attention.

At the end of each month or quarter, review your progress. What have you learned? What challenges did you face? What are your plans for the future? This reflection will help you adjust course if needed.

Create or seek out opportunities to practice what you've learned. The goal of learning is to solve problems efficiently. Therefore, gaining hands-on experience to apply your knowledge is crucial. This approach makes learning both fun and helps internalize new information. Ideally, you should practice in your daily job. If that's not possible, consider working on side projects that you're passionate about and that address real-world problems. This practical application will reinforce your learning and improve your skills more effectively.
