A residential agent should always refer a client to a commercial expert to walk them through the process!

I have a slightly different take here that this can be a positive transition and I have seen it, but with the caveat that you MUST have mentorship from an experienced CRE broker. One of the biggest challenges we see on our platform is a high volume of SMBs looking for office, industrial and retail space that more experienced tenant reps do not engage with due to size of the transaction or company etc. and cannot justify the time to support in a search and lease process. This is a non-traditional way to build experience and grow into the CRE community but it is a path to work into CRE providing service to the SMBs demand for space and need for service and start getting your experience on real transactions.
