As a live illustrator with a background in theatre, I would definitely encourage any organiser to think about all 5 senses and how they can be explored through the overarching theme of an event. It will definitely contribute to making your event stand out and make the happenings at your event more memorable when details like this are observed. Don't rely on sound if your event includes a lot of speakers - it will probably be a much richer event for your attendees if there are also visual aids, infographics supporting the information being presented (for example), relevant food and drink options available, a tactile area where people can go to reflect on the messages presented and even a scent that ties in with your theme - all add value.

Taking calculated risks can elevate an otherwise 'run of the mill' event into something far more memorable and unique. Make sure that your 'risk', however (whatever it may be), aligns with the fundamental reason for running the event and that it isn't just a gimmick - people will resonate more with a risk that fits with the underpinning theme and reason for attending. Also, make sure you have set aside some money in your budget as a contingency fund. Every time I run a project, I set aside 2-3% of the budget to use as contingency funding and more often than not, it is useful to have this as a buffer for when the unexpected happens.

An experienced scribe will be able to capture the themes of the day in ways that convey both a dynamic summary and an engaging reminder of the topics discussed, whilst also producing a striking piece of visual art that conveys a clear and concise message. It's also an added bonus for attendees to watch the artwork develop and take shape as the event progresses, potentially sparking new ideas and avenues for further conversation. Most humans are also visual learners. Coupled with other accessible forms of communication and documentation, scribing can be a very positive addition any event.
