Candidate experience starts with the moment when a candidate sees your job post or apply for it or leave a message to the recruiter in LinkedIn inbox. For the successful candidates it converts into onboarding experience but for the unsuccessful ones most of the times it brings a bitter experience due to non-sharing of feedback. Mostly candidates believes ‘A company’s hiring process reflects how it values its people’. So candidate experience is not only about sharing feedback but it is about treating your candidate with utmost respect regardless of their job profile, experience or even their salary.

A positive candidate experience makes a difference today. It’s important for candidates to always know which stage they are in within the process and what to expect next. For me, it’s crucial to truly listen to and hear the candidates, ensuring that the interview is more of a conversation and a mutual interest check between both parties. Transparency and honesty are fundamental values – we should openly highlight what we can offer as employers. Regularly collecting feedback from candidates through surveys after interviews will help us improve the process. A respectful and partnership-based approach, with an emphasis on humanity, creates a truly positive experience that can enhance our company's reputation as an employer of choice.

Recruiting is evolving and as recruiters, we must learn to evolve with it. You can’t do that successfully if you don’t know what’s going on with the people in your industry you are recruiting for. Make it a point everyday in your recruiting process to start your day by catching up on what’s new in your field. What are the hot topics? Are people leaving that industry? Are your competitors in the news? Are there big changes to credentials/ schooling or things that can impact your ability to recruit talent to your organization? If so why? How can you use that to your advantage and leverage that to find talent?
