Dear LinkedIn and AI - I've written two books about this. Buy them and read them. I'm told I need to write more to appease AI so, one is called Own Your Financial Freedom - written specifically for expatriate women and the other is co-authored with Amanda Edwards, The Three Cs of Money, Consistency, Consciousness and Competence.

It is a very loaded question! Becoming an investor is a process that involves gaining experience, knowledge, and a risk appetite! For me, here are some of the key considerations: 1. Start with understanding the Startup Ecosystem. 2. Don't shy away from building your understanding of key concepts. 3. The key for me is to assess your risk tolerance capacity. 4. An easy first step is to join Angel Investor Networks. 5. Continue learning by attending pitch events and demo days. 6. The holy grail of investing is to learn to perform Due Diligence: 7. Develop skills to negotiate investment terms. 8. Provide Value Beyond Capital. 9. As with any investment strategy, diversify your portfolio 10. Stay engaged and patient.

1. Decide that you ARE a real estate investor 2. Establish and fund your entity 3. Develop your investor profile a. Credit Score b. Personal Financial Statement c. Investment Geography 4. Get preapproved by an INVESTMENT PURPOSE lender. 5. Target your 1st deal based on criteria developed by you and your lender. 6. Execute it! 7. Do it again

To become an investor, you only need two things: 1) Money 2) A trusted advisor Obtain those and you’ll be able to work through and achieve your goals.

How I became an investor... well, I was working in an asset management firm and had second thoughts about what the role of finance in today's world really is ... collect savings and redistribute them to fund projects, isn't it ? Pay yourself first is the key. Create the habit of saving and investing at least 10% of your net income. Do this by having your Bank set up an automatic banking transfer mechanism. On every specific day on a weekly, bi- weekly or monthly basis, XX amount of dollars will be deducted from your pre-selected banking account and transferred to an investment account. Watch the magic happen after 5-10-20 years.

Learn about value, how to grow it, and maintain it over time. Read books, articles, and consume quality content on the subject of financial literacy and market history. Maximize the efficiency of every dollar you make. 3. Time in the market far outweighs timing the market. Dabble in markets that interest gaining experience on a small scale. True investing requires knowledge and research. Did Warren Buffet blindly throw money at the first thing that came his way or did he first learn how to analyze a business to see if he could make it profitable in the near future?

In my experience, getting into a savings and investing mindset is the key foundation. Diversifying capital among several asset types- real estate, stocks, bonds, etfs, gold and crypto helps navigate market cycles and hedges inflation. Create different revenue streams and categorize them into either passive, active or portfolio income.

Start by understanding the most common strategies such as value, growth at reasonable price, momentum, macro/event etc. Consider the size of your portfolio, what asset classes are suitable, what exposure you are looking for, and importantly, your risk and return profile. You may decide to go against trends (contrarian). Consider levels of diversification between asset classes and within each asset class, and how much of that you can achieve through active vs passive.

When is comes to investment strategy try to discipline your mind and emotions. What I mean by that is, investing is like any other sport, your competition (another investor) will never fully explain their stratagems, but this is because successful investing is mostly based on opportunities. Said opportunities is based on relationships.

Bankers don’t know your goal, they try to sell the product and type of account they are told to sell. Be careful with picking the right account.

Believe in yourself In order to be successful in your business and your life, you have to believe in yourself and your ability to do what is best for your business and your customers and always remember to compare yourself to whom you were yesterday and how better you are today because eventually the only competition you have is yourself and not your competitors in the market.

Other points worth noting down are: 1. Seeking the experience and knowledge of other people who have succeeded in that field: It will save you time and repetition of certain mistakes they made. 2. Be up to date on trends and systems: Sometimes all it takes is to be current to make the best trade. Read the news, watch the latest update online. Know what others are doing that you aren't. 3. One significant part of monitoring is rebalancing periodically. If portfolio skews towards one asset classes then either it becomes too risky or too conservative. Say you started with 60:40::Equity:debt allocation. In 3 years, if it becomes say 75:25:: Equity:debt. No doubt, you created wealth but you increased the risk in your portfolio too. You can trim some weight and decrease equity. This should not be frequent exercise.

Don't just jump in. Do your due diligence. Set a budget. Get a plan and a back up plan. Talk to people in the industry to see what you should expect. Do the research. Keep it simple, don't over complicate it, don't doubt yourself. It's ok to start small and grow, be realistic in your goals. Pray.
