Teams in consulting are bit different than in other industries. Why? Because it’s a highly competitive environment and you technically compete with others for chargeable time. Because large consultancies are basically driven by accounting. You either 1. Are chargeable (making money for the firm), OR, 2. Are on “bench” / waiting for the next assignment (cost money to the firm). When you are; Analyst - Consultant - Senior Consultant. (You need 85-100% chargeable hours). Manager (you usually have 75-85% target) Senior Manager (you many be on 60-80% but you need chargeable team under you). Director (your team must be chargeable). Managing Director/Partner (it’s your responsibility ensure your Directors make their teams chargeable).
