In the todays era, especially after the covid, skills-based hiring has taken the centre stage. The credentials are not entirely a outdated thing, but they are of less relevance if candidate has appropriate skills. Skills are important as they are are the ones, that are going to get employer's work done more easily & accurately. Most of the times, in our experience, we have found the candidates with same level of credentials have very starkly different levels of skills set needed for job. This might be happening because of different interests of people. And here in lies the important lesson for recruiters, one has to look for interests of candidates matching with jobs they will be doing. These mingling of interests helps candidates lifelong.

Providing skills based assessments has been a major plus to my current onboarding process. Acquiring transferable skills and mastering on the job trainings give me a better look at an employee than their degree does. For example, I received my bachelors degree in athletic training but have grown into middle and senior operational management.
