Indeed, transparency is essentially required. Sustainable and environmentally friendly approaches are highly recommended to start research on nanomaterials. Nature has lot of variety of raw materials or precursors to adopt. So called synthetic ones are just the business and no proper benefits to the society and environment. e.g. do research on plant based excellent materials and their compounds to prepare new powerful medicines to heal the dangerous diseases more effectively and sincerely.

Nanomaterials research, especially in realms like nanocatalysis, is genuinely a complex landscape to navigate. From my perspective, when working on such intricate scales, it's not uncommon to encounter variations and unpredictabilities. Imperfect assemblies, unpredictable aggregations, and the quirks of nanoscale dynamics. It's crucial to write down every detail, no matter how minor it seems. Then there's the data. Diving deep into statistical analysis ensures that we're discerning patterns and trends accurately. By sifting through the data rigorously, we can identify genuine phenomena from outliers or anomalies. Truly understanding our nanomaterials requires comprehensive characterization using state-of-the-art techniques.

A major problem in materials science research starting from the 1980s has been almost an all-consuming focus on synthesis, study of properties and prescription of possible use. Very little effort has been spent on understanding the fundamental differences of these materials with previous materials and in which basic ways they work. Nowhere is this more applicable than for nanosized systems. We don't even understand how to write a chemical equation involving them as they are non-stochiometric. Nanomaterials while technically sophisticated are becoming increasingly cheaper to make, and we have to reflect if we really want these in everyday consumer goods in large quantities without known safety profiles -especially if they are to be used in vast quantities!

Effective methods include publishing in reputable journals, providing open access to research, detailing methodologies, sharing data, patent registration for intellectual property, obtaining regulatory permissions, and fostering collaboration. I would suggest the following: 1. Establish / expand/ publish the database for the properties of nano materials 2. Encourage / organize the professional societies like IEEE to set industrial standards for nanotechnologies 3. Lobby US congress and worldwide nations and organizations to pass laws and treaties for product life cycle management of nano materials and monitoring and regulations by governmental agencies.

In my experience, the foundation of conducting nanomaterials research should be “collaborative research”. It is essential we create teams that have a wide set of expertise including nanotechnology, bioengineering, biology, chemistry, materials science, computer science, and MD-PhDs in one group to develop nanomaterials that are reproducible and whose effects in the body can be studied. That would create transparency in this field and also create translatable solutions to problems.

The advantages of nanocomposites are readily apparent. If you can achieve good adhesion and dispersion in a selected matrix, you get an extraordinary improvement in various properties. A small amount (weight percentage of filler) can make a big difference. But dispersion and adhesion are not easy to achieve. And the final price might be too high for an industrial application.
