The Management will recognize and appreciate if you are authentic, respectful and active and a person who can help sharing the company culture. With regards to activities, please make sure that they result into outcome and have a signifikant business impact. As a second line leader, build a team of highperforming experts and empower them and do not forget to highlight their achievements rather than putting yourself in the center.

As a CEO I always made time for people who had demonstrated before that they brought proposals for solutions to the table. I didn't make time for people who only brought problems to that same table. "Give me something I can say yes to" is a sentence I often used. Moaners get noticed and are flagged as "to be avoided". Contributors get noticed and are welcomed.

You have a strong work ethic, contribute valuable ideas, and always make a positive impact. Invest time in learning skills that will help you grow and contribute to the company. Take courses that support the work you are doing. Senior leadership notices those who work collaboratively — so you should also be thoughtful in your interactions with others. Whether you are giving a presentation, working on a group project, or having a difficult conversation with your boss, it is vital to know your audience and prepare how you will communicate with them in advance. Do everything with excellence in mind and be of value to others. Don’t chase rewards and try to do top tier work and let go of any expectations. If you do this sincerely, you won’t be able to stop the good things that will come your way.

Early in my career, I learned the hard way that it doesn't matter how much great work you do if your boss doesn't know that you did it. The first priority is to do great work. The second is to make your work visible. The minimum level is to send a regular update. It doesn't have to long. In fact, if it's too long they aren't likely to read it. Bullet points are great. Think executive summary, not the full details (unless your boss loves tons of details, of course). And the pro level is to give them real time visibility. Don't just have a meeting, send your boss a very short email saying the meeting went great and you can't wait to share the ideas that came out of it.

Be visible, polite and professional. Have high standards and don’t cut corners. Don’t cut and paste stuff in your work. Proof read it, twice. Never act sycophantly, this is easy to detect. You have to put in the hard yards, your salary isn’t an appearance fee. Have an opinion and an enquiring mind. To do this you need to be widely read. Volunteer to help when everyone’s busy. Don’t take credit for other people’s ideas. When you have a task or project for senior management, ask yourself every day, what can I specifically do today to move things forward. Good luck!
