Industrial grade 3D printer can easily cost a hundred thousand dollars, not to mention that printing speed on large or complex object is considerably slow which may lead to delays in production and increased cost.

I would say that 3D printing does offer unparalleled access for producing small batches (under 100 pcs) with urgency as a priority. However, cost and energy usage vary by the items purpose. 3D printing is ideal for limited runs in niche markets, rapid prototyping, and urgent repairs, where costs and energy usage scale with quantity. Conventional investment casting is still comparatively energy efficient and cost effective for large-scale production, quality-critical parts, or generic/common items. Minimizing waste is the manufacturer's responsibility to optimize workflow and reduce unnecessary waste.

This is not specific to AM, you can do that for any other manufacturing processes. And you also meet the same issues : Are you sure that the material recycled is "pure" ? how much is it healthy/oxidized/contaminated ? To which extend can you re-use such recycled material ? what will be the part properties ? ... And, like quite often, additionally to all those uncertainties, the recycled material is often more expansive than a new one.... Some global rules should be set & followed by all mankind regarding true recycling... but it is another huge debate.

3DP is additive manufacturing, unlike traditional subtractive manufacturing where the desired part is kept and the rest is a waste. 3DP is print on demand. You print it when you need it. Flexibility to change design and reprint it, Less inventory, less storage, less waste. 3DP is 'manufacturing for design', unlike conventional 'design for manufacturing', whereby we need to tweak our design in order to make it in the shop floor. The iteration process to get the right parts out ended up with waste.

The biggest advantage of 3d printing over injection molding is ease of customisation. For injection if someone has to change minor features in the product they need to modify mold , which possesses design and machining challenges and can be more costly, sometimes you may need to have new mold for the part . In contrast to this, In 3d printing you simply need to make a new CAD, generate a stl file and slice it and send it to the printer to print it. No complex machining needed.
