It's easy to just attend events but still avoid getting out of your comfort zone and meeting new people. To make sure you make meaningful connections, you have to plan how you will introduce yourself, and what you can contribute to a discussion or potential new connection. For example, decide what you want to be known for, and craft a brief self-introduction which connects your experience, position and ambitions to that. The best way to practice it, is to do it - so don't be shy about not having confidence introducing yourself this way the first few times. Once you have that down, then it's alot easier for people you meet to remember you and also to think of you when relevant opportunities pop up. Also, choose events you attend carefully!

From experience, the best way to connect with the startup ecosystem in your region is to be involved with it. By attending events, you have the ability to have real-time conversations and build in-person relationships with other ecosystem members. There is something impactful about in-person experiences and connections; this especially has come into perspective in recent years. Eventually, too, the more involved you are, the smaller the, once large, ecosystem becomes.

Give and share knowledge in startup community without expectation on return can accelerate the connectivity inside the community and help founders get the necessary resource for the startups faster. Also community need to be able to form positive loop on this by letting free riders or people who break rules learn lessons.

In my experience, reading about new technology is one thing but to experience new technology is on a different level all together! The UX of downloading an app, diving in and exploring the new tech in a hands on way allows one to engage and find where the value of the new tech has impact
