You want to ask for a raise. What's the best way to do it?

To piggy back off a lot of the other contributions, but with my own opinion. You need to provide your direct ROI. That's why it's best to figure out what metrics you can utilize from market data and your internal metrics in order to calculate your personal ROI > ex: Avg Sale: 1,000,000 your commission is 2.5% that you bring into the firm and you've brought 19 sales in your last year. Total value of 475,000, but your salary is only 80k. You would like more than 17% when you're doing 100% of the work.

Demonstrate your value to the company. Track how much money you make them with your projects, then ask for a raise. If they disagree, ask what you would need to do in order to get there (taking on extra projects, starting a new initiative, etc) If there’s nothing they can do for your growth, then find a different company to work for. Seriously. If you have to fight tooth and nail for every inch of earned compensation… that’s a sign you should leave.

Get your stats so you know what you’re worth IF you’re asked, but don’t just plop it down. Your manager knows what you as well as other people in the company do, and what’s that comparatively worth. However, they may not know comparative pay in the industry, so that research is more valuable. I’d start by saying how much you enjoy working for the company and with your team, and that you’d like an increase in pay. They will probably ask how much you had in mind. You can say $X because it appears others in the industry are earning closer to that. I’d respond that I appreciate your work and let me think it over. If it’s possible financially, reasonable, and I want you to stay, I’d be happy to give it to you.

Before you ask for a raise, have you achieved the goal for which you were hired in this facility, and have you added material value by being part of the work team? Is the real estate market active and supports your request for a raise? It is not reasonable that the facility has not achieved profits and is asking for a raise, and is your job routine? An employee does it or is it specialized and the company cannot dispense with your services? Know your value and ask for a raise...

Den eigenen Wert seiner Tätigkeit für das Unternehmen zu ermitteln kann recht schwierig sein. Im Vertrieb dagegen ist es relativ einfach. Dennoch gilt immer als Richtwert das Erfüllen der Zielvereinbarung. Hier muss nicht zwingend ein monetärer Betrag fixiert sein. Hier zählen meiner Erfahrung nach auch die Teilnahme an Qualifizierungsmaßnahmen. Ein entsprechendes Benchmarking sollte immer versucht werden.

Der ideale Zeitpunkt liegt vor dem 01. Oktober. Danach sind Budgets bereits fest geplant und es wird schwierig hier nachträglich die Hand anzulegen. Zu diesem Zeitpunkt empfiehlt es sich berufliche Erfolge darzustellen. Idealerweise hat eine positive Leistungsbeurteilung bereits stattgefunden. Bei deren Endgespräch ist deren Erwähnung ein Pfund mit welche man "wuchern" sollte.

When I started my first real job working for a CRE investor/developer the number one thing I learned from him was to never ask for a raise until you can prove equivalent or more value you've created. In other words, raises don't come for longevity or loyalty alone. Create the value that pays for your requested pay increases. So, I began to track the income I was procuring for the company on excel and when I felt like I had enough of a consistent track record of doing so, I shared the spreadsheet and laid out the requested raise and why it was justified. Result: slam dunk every time I did it during my 10 years working at that firm.

I can personally attest to this, it works 10/10 times! The numbers tell the story and speak for themselves. I highly recommend anyone seeking to increase their income to take this approach

Highlight Achievements: Start by outlining your key achievements and accomplishments since your last salary review. This could include successful deals closed, properties leased or sold, revenue generated, client acquisitions, or any other significant contributions you've made to the company's success. Quantify Impact: Whenever possible, quantify the impact of your contributions in terms of financial gains, cost savings, or revenue growth for the company. Use data and metrics to demonstrate the tangible results of your efforts and how they have positively impacted the company's bottom line.

Don’t be afraid to stand up for yourself and the work you do. This doesn’t mean you need to be rash or issue an ultimatum. Rather, advocate for yourself and your body of work, and back it up with supporting evidence. As a leader I welcome the opportunity to have this conversation and remind my employees this is a moment where they can be concerned solely about their own best interest. It’s on me as a leader to balance what’s best for the company with what they need.

Hier spielt die Hierarchie die dominante Rolle. Oftmals ist der direkte Vorgesetzte nicht der eigentliche Entscheider. Ich finde, dass man nicht darauf warten sollte bis der Vorgesetzte eine Gehaltserhöhung anbietet. Sollte dieser einen Betrag vorschlagen welcher unterhalb der eigenen Erwartungen liegt wird der Handlungsspielrau geringer und es tritt eventuell eine Unzufriedenheit auf. . Erkenne deinen Marktwert sowie den Beitrag für das Unternehmen. Hierzu können auch umgesetzte Verbesserungsvorschläge beitragen.
