Your team is struggling to communicate effectively. How can you help them get back on track?

We recently had the situation on one of the companies I am co-founder, where the team complain about communication in the regular feedback cycles. We hired an external consultant which did a series of workshop to drill down into the communication problems. To find the root cause of the communication problems and to find proper solutions for it you need more than just surveys, probably you need a combination of consultant lead workshops and more advanced software tools.

Para ajudar a equipe a retomar a comunicação eficaz, é essencial promover uma reunião para identificar as barreiras e desafios enfrentados, estabelecer normas de comunicação claras e objetivas, incentivar a escuta ativa e a expressão aberta de ideias e preocupações, fornecer treinamento em habilidades de comunicação quando necessário, e implementar ferramentas de colaboração online para facilitar a troca de informações e o trabalho em equipe, visando assim restaurar a coesão e a eficiência comunicativa dentro do grupo.

You can balance these between informal occasions and work related meet ups. Use technology to help you have a preferred channel (on slack or another instant messaging app) and encourage the team to share. After some time, ask your team for more feedback to know what is working and what can be tweaked to perfection.

In my experience creating a communication channel map helps a lot. You can gather your team & create a channel map. Together, decide which communication channels to use for different types of messages and establish rules for each. Try to follow company-wide norms to avoid confusion.

Je suis pour définir un mode de communication qui permette à l'équipe d'être sur un pied d'égalité dans l'accès à la communication. Nous pouvons utiliser différents canaux selon la typologie de communication : teams pour les réunions d'équipes et les documents à partager, onenote peut également être un bon outil pour travailler de manière collaborative. La clé de la réussite est également d'instaurer un temps dédié hebdomadaire par exemple pour échanger en physique si possible.

Dans le cadre des mes expériences passées, j'ai déjà connu des équipes en souffrance dans lesquelles le dialogue était totalement rompu. La solution proposée avait été de faire un teambuilding en dehors du cadre de l'entreprise afin de retrouver un dialogue apaisé et d'évoquer certains sujets de manière plus libre qu'entre les 4 murs d'un bureau. Participer à une activité originale comme un escape game est une clé pour générer de la cohésion, de l'entraide et retrouver une forme de sérénité dans les échanges.

Dans le cadre de notre activité, nous sommes amenés à collaborer à plusieurs lorsque les projets sont ambitieux. Je pense notamment à notre journée d'intégration des alternants, tout le monde est intégré au projet et apporte sa pierre à l'édifice (communication, logistique, contenu pédagogique, activités à organiser). Les échanges sont réguliers et nombreux ce qui limite les erreurs et les oublis. Le mode collaboratif stimule également la créativité. Le feedback est important sur la qualité du support proposé et également sur le résultat une fois la journée passée. Célébrer un projet abouti développe l'esprit d'équipe.

J'ai déjà adopté le rôle de médiateur dans le cadre d'un conflit entre 2 collaborateurs. Le nœud du problème résidait dans le fait qu'aucun des 2 collaborateurs n'arrivait à se mettre à la place de l'autre alors qu'ils poursuivaient un but commun. Il a fallu écouter sans juger les 2 parties, comprendre ou résidait la problématique et favoriser le dialogue. Il est important de ne pas prendre parti et de guider vers des accointances communes afin de renouer le dialogue. Important, en fin d'échange il a fallu s'assurer que la situation était aplanie et que tous les acteurs étaient disposés à repartir du bon pied.
