Encourage team members to listen attentively to each other's perspectives without interrupting, allowing everyone to feel heard and understood.

In airport management, where every day brings a new challenge, team conflicts are inevitable. The key, I've found, is getting to the heart of what sparks these disputes. Miscommunication, differing goals, or even stress from the high-stakes environment can all ignite tensions. Having open, honest conversations has been my go-to. It’s difficult but it's usually about creating a space where everyone feels safe to voice their concerns without fear of judgment. Addressing these issues head-on not only helps in resolving the immediate conflict but also strengthens our team. But recognizing and confronting the source of conflict is always the first step towards a solution.

Identificar o estilo do conflito e a maturidade profissional dos envolvidos é essencial. O bem-estar da equipe não pode ser negligenciado ao resolver problemas em prol dos objetivos comuns de sucesso. A forma como um conflito é mediado pode agravá-lo, dependendo do nível de maturidade do colaborador. Enquanto um Júnior pode interpretar uma tentativa de resolução como algo pessoal, um Sênior geralmente separa relações pessoais e profissionais, facilitando a resolução. No entanto, isso não é uma regra e varia de pessoa para pessoa. Portanto, é crucial identificar o estilo do conflito, a maturidade profissional e comunicar, (fazendo-se entender), a importância da harmonia da equipe para todas as partes envolvidas.

To have a constructive conversation, you need to find an environment that is safe for you to talk to. Such a place also enables you to take the necessary risks for honest communication regarding the issues at hand. So, before trying to resolve any issue, find a safe and private place to talk. Do not choose the office of either party or a location near them. And while at this place, ensure that each party gets enough time to air out their views regarding the matter.

Uma coisa que acho útil é compreender as motivações e necessidades do conflito de cada uma das partes envolvidas, para isso saber escutar é essencial, até mesmo para poder intermediar as soluções apresentadas à partir do que será mais próximo de uma soluções comum. Além disso, ter em mente as implicações do conflito ajuda e muito no momento de desenhar as soluções pois sabe-se o que deve ser evitado e qual o objetivo a ser alcançado. Já vi conflitos que partiram de situações de falha de comunicação entre setores que utilizavam uma ferramenta em comum, em que uma simples automatização de coleta de informações foi a solução mais pertinente entre as necessidades de cada setor e o objetivo a ser alcançado.

Implementing and monitoring a solution after a conflict has taught me a lot about leadership and resilience. It’s one thing to agree on a fix; it’s another to see it through. Ensuring the solution is clear, realistic, and measurable has been my mantra. It's important to ensure everyone knows their role in this new chapter, setting the stage for real change. But the journey doesn’t stop there, you have to keep a pulse on the progress, engaging in regular, deep conversations to see how the solution is holding up. Celebrating the small victories is as important as identifying areas where we’re not hitting the mark.
