You’re preparing for a job interview. How can you show that you’re a good team player?

I've interviewed hundreds of candidates and if there's one thing I've learned about the best ones, it's this: you have to balance being a team player with highlighting what you actually did. Interviewers don't want to dig to understand your role behind "we did this" type of commentary. Here's how to phrase your opening to show you are a collaborator but also carry weight as an individual contributor, which is really what employers want: "I was part of a 6-person team on this project and my role was to create all of the graphics and marketing material based on inputs from my team members. I created a process to make sure that all of us were able to get our deliverables done on time. Here's how..."

It's very easy to overdo the collaboration during interview to make it all sound very inauthentic ! If one has been an Individual contributor , examples could be given of how they sought inputs from other team members when they hit a roadblock , and how they could implement the idea effectively and later went on to thank the team members for their help. As a Team leader , understanding the challenges which their teams face and being there to support them by either stepping in themselves or get the other team members to chip in , are some examples which most of them would have experienced. Storytelling is a good concept to use as it brings out subtle emotions which guide team dynamics and also speaks of the authenticity of the individual.

We've all hard hard jobs...retail, food service, those kind of gigs where you have to get @R%^ done. My advice...be specific. Really specific. I encourage people (college students in particular) to explain their responsibilities and accomplishments. How did they move the meter? You can't do that unless you collaborate with others and guide people through tough times. When you explain how your worked with folks to survive Black Friday at a mall, that's working well with others when things get tough.

I'm talking about work, not me. An alternative wording. Talking about the job and through it about me. Then, I'll be able to know if the work itself approved or disapproved of me. In either case, I will have won. My optimization through my new job or my optimization for my next interview. Then, I will be as humble, as enthusiastic, as insightful, as my new job needs!

Once you're done with your anecdote, ask what kind of criteria they seek during those key collaborative times. There's a good chance of overlap between their ideals and your ideals. That's something to highlight in the follow up.

Enthusiasm and positivity are so important in an interview! The interviewer is evaluating two main things: can you do the job, and do they want to work with you. If you're not enthusiastic about the job during the interview, major red flag for the future when the job feels hard/mundane/stressful. Before an interview, reflect on everything that excites you about the role, and bring as much positivity as you can!

Realizar uma pesquisa sobre a empresa antes da entrevista, mostrando que você entende sua missão, valores e cultura organizacional demonstra o interesse genuíno na empresa e equipe. Além disso, ao demonstrar interesse pelas realizações da equipe e pela visão da empresa para o futuro, irá demonstrar que está alinhado com os objetivos, valores da organização e com disposição para contribuir de forma significativa para o sucesso coletivo.

Menos e mais: Manter a calma...mostra enteresse pela vaga, antes da entrevista verificar qual e o ramo de atividade da empresa, conhecer todos requisitos exigido para a vaga, preparar as suas possíveis respostas, e a maior carta que vc pode colocar na mesa em uma entrevista são suas habilidades X competências, isso vai mostrar a sua marca, tem mais 3 coisas que acho extremamente importante em uma entrevista seja verdadeira fale a verdade sem firulas, você as vezes não sabe mas nas entrevista s as pessoas as vezes falam coisas que não são pertinentes, e ai isso acaba desclassificado, pq gente o corpo fala. Seja básico sem rodeios nas respostas, limpo e objetivo, vai ser melhor. O - e +, super importante. Muito obrigada.
