If you are finding a repetitive task dull, ask why are you doing the repetitive task? In AutoCAD, learning come basic scripting, batch files, and maybe a bit of AutoLISP means you get the computer to do the repetitive task. Nobody wants to open 100 drawings to make changes to 2 layers. A few simple lines of code and AutoCAD can do this for you. Nobody wants to manually print 100 drawings. A simple batch file combined with a script will allow the computer and AutoCAD to do the work. Computers are great at monotonous/repetitive tasks. People are not as great; they switch off after a while and start to make mistakes.

CAD have multiple approach which differ on personal level. Setting a challenging deadline, improving designs by adding details for better functionality and minimum material usage withstanding the robustness could be achieved by discovering different approaches and broadening the skill set. This brings sense of improvement and fosters curiosity.

Challenging expertise and knowledge leads to greater progress and mastery at work. Practicing in topics that you have not been very active in gives us a new perspective that makes us familiar with new ways of doing work. We can even increase our familiarity and become more expert in CAD design, as well as get a great knowledge of the equipment manufacturing method around us.

I believe this is the way to go! I don’t think distractions or multitasking are professional and should be avoided. If we are using these tools on a daily basis, we should find a way to do it as efficiently as possible and try to learn in the process

On point! Better yet, keep hiring younger employees, fresh out of school. You'll find that you and your teams will learn a truckload of new tricks as you are training them for their new position. In my experience, best way to solve problems and create creative things is by working in small group (up to 5 people). Best if those people are from similar but different industries. Than one idea outgrows to other and in final you get best of all previous ideas.

Yes, Focusing on personal projects will increase our capability to think and improve our design. Not only that it can make us extend our boundaries for further development of the design and we can go and try different simulation of different standards for making a design not limiting to previously interpreted standards.

I do personal projects all the time. Not only does it provide creative potential but allows you to experience the program from a new perspective. Also playing the "What if" game in your head as you design and draft let's you establish constraints or freedoms in your design/drawing. As a personal project you can use tools you never use in your profession. This is where the "What If" game comes in. What if I try this for that reason. Does it work/not work, is it better and more efficient? Can it be implemented in my daily routine with little fuss.

Whenever I do personal projects, they tend to be a little out of the ordinary because I don’t personally need mechanical parts. I like trying to make toys or tabletop games and they are much more challenging than one could imagine. You learn new things and feel more comfortable with the software.

Actually agree with this according my personal point of view.Refreshing environmet/workspace enhance creativity,productivity accuracy etc. As examples, sometimes a cactus pot on the table can give mind relaxation for refresh of the work or Looking away through an open window.

Refreshing your work space is highly recommended. As a cad worker most people sit at a desk for 8+ hours. In my case I loose track of time and realize the day is over when the cleaning staff walk by. For one this is not a good health style for working and can lead to serious health conditions down the road. By adding in some art work or other decor this can lighten the mood especially if you work in a dark cubicle. Having soft glow lights is easier on your eyes than florescent bulbs. Grab a pair of blue light filter glasses to reduce eye strain and fatigue. I personally like to keep model sets at my station. Making the models while burned out from repetative tasks refreshens my moral!

I actually like a dull workspace because I am prone to distractions, however, the software usually provides some sort of personalization to your tools. I have been meaning to change my hotkeys to better suit my current projects so I can better use my mouse or space mouse

We need to keep up with change, because keeping our expertise up-to-date will go a long way in improving our working conditions and our success in our jobs. Training from eminent and experienced people is very important. I believe that instead of repeating the experience and following the paths that others have taken, it is better to use their results. This will increase our experimental age.

Any repetitive work, will result in burn out, hence the best way of keeping up the rapport is by doing these steps • Try to give short breaks in between the task you are performing, it won't stress you much. • Make sure you aren't completely mingled in to the task you are performing, unless it is something new and interesting. • If you are coming across any issue, which you aren't able to solve with multiple tries, it's better to consult with someone who is good at the software, these days every softwares are having there own forums where you can post your queries and get it solved. • A very unique way to avoid this rut is, to adapt new ways of performing CAD operations every time you come across the same geometry to be created.

Repetitive task can be very monotonous. But ironically creativity also comes when we know the task in depth and details. 1) We can use that bordem to find a creative solution so that it does not required to be repeated. 2) Some manual work cannot be automated easily so for motivation we can make a standardized procedure of that task, so that it can directly be taught to someone else also. 3) Repetitive can does not means that it's easy! The meaning of "experience" is that you have been doing that thing for long so it's win and win situation.
