You’re teaching a hybrid class. What are the best assessment tools to measure student learning?

For hybrid class one should plan activities that not only enhances the knowledge of the participants but leave a long lasting learning experience..if one is using zoom or team ..taking polls, creating the break our rooms for case discussions..time bound quizzes can help in assessment.Also for face to face students the same cases can be enacted in form of role plays where they can suggest the possible solutions by giving some real life examples..it is also important to assess the students not only individually but in group settings to understand their team and leadership skills.

Having taught hybrid for 2 years I can tell you what worked well for me and my students. I always used Zoom check in so students told me how they were feeling once logged on. Then I incorporated timers to each slide to keep my lessons on task and for pacing. I also used a different Bitmoji daily to spark inquiry with my students and build relationships. I provided time for group instruction through Pear Deck then we would be all engaged in Quizlet Live, Kahoot, and GimKit. These tools help bring engagement to the screen and make learning active. Lastly, we would record an exit ticket with Microsoft Flip.

La evaluación formativa en un "must". La aplicación de contenidos aprendidos a un caso o en un proyecto son importantísimos. Pero esto requiere seguimiento de parte del docente y acompañamiento tutorizado, marcando los aspectos positivos y los que deben mejorar en el proceso. Lo mejor es ir partiendo de fechas de entregas parciales para lograrlo.

Formative assessment is one of the best tools educators have to teach their students. In the classic model where assessment was mostly summative, students only received a numerical grade. But now, with new technologies in the educational field, we can provide much more value through feedback and other tools that make up formative assessment. This becomes even more valuable in a hybrid or even online setting since formative assessment allows us to enhance the student experience through continuous feedback, something that becomes challenging in these new non-face-to-face models.

En caso de utilizar una herramienta de evaluación sumativa, recomiendo que sean como pasos previos a comenzar un tema (para verificar conocimientos previos del tema) o bien al finalizar (para ver conocimiento adquirido del tema) No obstante en ambos casos, esa evaluación no debería ser calificativa sino como un indicador de la situación del estudiante (una foto) que nos dará información de en qué situación se encuentra para enfrentar una evaluación de ABP (aprendizaje basado en proyectos) o un Trabajo de investigación.

En mi experiencia, la gamificación ha sido muy útil en el proceso evaluativo por dos motivos: se encara la evaluación desde un lugar menos formal y se le quita el dramatismo al momento de rendir. Que los estudiantes puedan deconstruir el contenido educativo y usarlo para gamificar nos demuestra que lo conocen, lo manejan y lo saben. La evaluación no es más que un testeo de conocimientos, si pueden jugar con el contenido, es un indicador real de su adquisición.

Hybrids - assessments and readings were online and the meat of the class was in the classroom. So much of the class was self reflections and discussions without the need for slides and lectures.

En mí opinión la evaluación entre pares puede permitirnos determinar el nivel de pensamiento crítico que tienen los estudiantes para enfrentarse a una evaluación, los enfrenta con además con una realidad laboral donde el trabajo cooperativo y colaboración, así como el crecimiento profesional juega un papel importante.

La evaluación por pares es muy útil para que los estudiantes puedan compartir conocimientos y ofrecer diferentes puntos de vista antes una situación planteada. Es vital en este tipo de estrategias evaluativas que se explicite que en los casos de no consensuar una respuesta puedan incluir ambas visiones y sus fundamentos. pensando en un desempeño profesional futuro al encontrarnos en trabajos colaborativos podemos estar en esa poción y está bueno que reconozcan que un no consenso en una mirada de un tema, no es significado de desaprobación, sino de enriquecimiento.

Las autoevaluaciones son el GPS del estudiante, pues en ellas pueden relevar su estado de avance en el conocimiento de un tema. Los multiple choice o los quiz son una herramienta muy eficaz en este tipos de evaluaciones.

Adaptive assessment is great for the development of student confidence, which can be a fundamental barrier to student success, particularly in quantitative fields where students can easily fall into phobic conditions. Adaptive assessments can also find precisely where the difficulties in knowledge uptake are. I design self-grading homework from that strategy where a student can see where there process is breaking immediately by providing essentially answers that are evidence of procedural waypoints. While this is not truly adaptive, it highlights a by hand version of the same concept: isolate the uptake issue and help them crest the mountain, wherever it is.

In a hybrid class, it is important to use both formative and summative forms of assessments. The Google form feature allows teachers to create quiz. The facilitator can opt for the lock screen option so that students cannot switch between screens while taking the test. On Google forms, you can create multiple choice questions and once the written answers are marked, the grades are emailed to the students. For distance learning courses, students can be made to keep their cameras on while they take their assessments so that the facilitator can watch them on Google meet while they are attempting the assessment. A combination of using Google meet and Google form can be used to take assessments in hybrid classes.

Una propuesta importante al momento de hacer evaluaciones es considerar las rúbricas porque este elemento hace que la evaluación sea objetiva.

No creo que dependa de la modalidad de enseñanza, híbrida o en línea o presencial. Depende de los resultados de aprendizaje y de las actividades propuestas para desarrollarlos.
